Having first discovered Frank Lloyd Wright in Chicago, my 2nd Wright experience was in Arizona. Taliesen West is a school of sorts for architects, and what a fantastic campus to learn from! The final project is to actually build a structure on site that will later be torn down. Wright was a genius, and it’s way cool that there is a place for others to learn his concepts.

Getting there...getting there...the faces will be last, but I’m getting closer to that part. A lot of color mixing going on here. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

The flash is not good for photographing a canvas, but at 5:30 in the morning, the sun is not in the mood to cooperate. So, as you can see, there are a few more details emerging. Most of the large flat color areas are taken care of; now it is just a lot of details left to do. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Having the opportunity to visit Italy was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. One of the cities I visited was Pompeii. Whoever the contractor was for the this place, they should have left a manual behind for today’s less-than-stellar home builders. Even the ruins left behind were amazing.
And yes, I was posing.

By the time I get home from work and the gym, there’s little time to paint, but I managed to get about an hour in last night. Still laying down blocks of color; not much shading going on yet. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

My current work-in-progress is a commissioned painting of Disneyland’s Main Street, circa 1950’s. This is the first time I’ve actually painted in at least 6 months or more. It’s always hard to mentally prepare myself to start again (ye olde mental block), but once I sit down and put the brush to the canvas, it’s even more difficult to get me to stop. Here’s my first day’s progress on the painting. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

One of the most beautiful areas in Pennsylvania is Brandywine, especially for art lovers. The Brandywine River Museum is a must-see, especially for those who appreciate the art of the Wyeth family. Pieces from each generation (NC being my fave) can be seen at this museum, situated in an old Mill on the Brandywine River. The new and old sections have been integrated well. Fall is a great time to visit (the leaves, natch) and also at Christmas, when the tree goes up and the model trains come out for display.

One of the benefits of drawing on a computer is you can redo and redo without the “paper” getting ruined. Often I do caricatures, and a few years ago, I did my Xmas card littered with all my fave celebrities. I especially liked this one from my favorite TV show, “Sex and the City.” To see more of my art, visit my regular website.
