Bette Davis

I was honored to be asked for the use (and with pay!) of my “Copper Bette” painting for the Lowell Massachusetts Film Festival. To see info on the festival and the use of my painting, go to their website, http://www.destinationworld.org/. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

The Chamberlain Hotel

I love finding cool hidden boutique type hotels, and the Chamberlain in Hollywood was a recent discovery. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, this converted apartment building has a way cool rooftop pool with excellent views and fun little cabanas.

Even the smallest rooms are spacious and decorated with taste and style. My one gripe (and you know I have to have at least one) is the bathroom. Why would you spend so much money and effort to remodel an entire hotel and let the bathrooms look cheap? The sink cabinet, shower stall, and even the toilet look like they'd come from a hillbilly estate sale. Despite that, I still HIGHLY recommend this place. Wally-hol 7

Worked some more on it last night; for me, it is down to the tedious part, now that I've almost completed 1 of the 4 faces. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Wally-hol 6

Post #6 of my Wally Boag/Andy Warhol painting tribute actually is starting to come together; I was going to wait until finishing all 4 faces to put in the background colors but decided to go ahead to see how they worked together. The flash really does this piece no justice. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Austin, Texas: Keepin' It Weird!

I really do like weird...so it definitely brought a smile to my face to see Austin Texas’ slogan plastered everywhere: “Keep Austin Weird!” I have enjoyed both trips to Austin, but weird is definitely not the first word that comes to mind when I think of this city. However, if that’s their marketing schtick, I’ll go along with it...

One of my fave new discoveries on this trip was the fun Cupcake shop, located inside an Airstream Trailer: what a classic! The lines were humongous!

Esther’s Follies were also VERY fun...especially being able to watch the entertainment (both planned and unplanned) outside in the street.

There are also plenty of art and kitsch stores nearby:
