GH Poster Painting 3

When I decided to do this reproduction of the original GH Poster, I figured I’d knock it out in a few days; no blending/shading needed, it would be a snap. I didn’t take into account the lack of opacity for the metallic gold or the preciseness required for the lettering...duh. Down to the wire here, I am at the touch-up stage, where I go over every inch of the painting to make sure all the blemishes are fixed up. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

GH Poster Painting 2

I believe I found the last 3 tubes of Antique Gold paint in San Diego...and will probably use every one of them to finish this painting, as the gold will take at least 2-3 coats for solid coverage. 2 days from my deadline. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

GH Poster Painting 2

Now that Wallyhol is done, I have moved onto my reproduction of the original Golden Horseshoe Revue painting. The gold paint does not go down well, and will probably take at least 2-3 coats. Other than that, this one is going pretty well. The only color left (besides gold) is the red. A lot of touchup to the white will remain though. I forgot what a b%&*h lettering can be… To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Wally-hol FINISHED!

Done, completed, finished, finito...and this is the first acrylic painting I have ever put a coat of varnish on...we’ll see how that works out. Now I can move on to the 2nd painting for the Golden Horseshoe event on 3/29; photos to come soon! To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Knotts Berry Farm, September 1961

Although I am known for my collection of Disneyland vintage photos, I do have a few of Knotts Berry Farm as well. Here are 2 black & white shots from September 1961.

Wally-hol 10

Soooo close...tonight should see the finishing touches of this one. Although each one is from the same photo, each one shows variations that are reflective of doing the same picture 4 times. Obviously, you learn different techniques and try new things with each progressive one. I wasn’t sure if I could pull this one together, but so far I am pretty happy with the results. Central Park & “The Gates”

When I first saw photos and read about Christo & Jeanne Claude’s Gates Project in Central Park, I just didn’t get it. To me it seemed like an Emperor’s New Clothes art scam, using orange fabric. In person though, I have to admit it was pretty cool. And the many others walking “through” the orange colored gates that day thought so too. Who knew?!?

While we’re already in Central Park, here are a few more “traditional” shots for you to enjoy:
